Family Fun Weekend

August 7th & 8th

What is Family Fun Weekend This is a special event the AKA does every August. It's two days of racing done in a unique way from our regular points shows. We have time trials both days to determine starting position and the Sunday qualifying is for our annual lap record contest. We also sponsor a Charity Race amoungst area Police Officers. This is a timed event where they race against the clock. Once the Top Cop is crowned he/she gets to race a special feature race against the AKA winners for the day. Monies collected for the event are then donated on behalf of the AKA and the Top Cop to a charity of their choice. At the end of Saturdays event a picnic is held for racers and their families.  
Camping - There is overnight camping both Friday and Saturday night $25 hook up fee is charged by the fair grounds. Several families choose to stay over where we get together with our favorite beverage and talk racin all evening.

Saturdays Event - This is a regular points race with the main difference being we use time trials to qualify for starting position. Low time gets the pole just like they do in NASCAR. This is followed by a 25 Lap Feature for all classes.

After the features we do a TOP COP event. This is a special race involving area Police Officers of different agencies and townships. The Officers all bring donations and put them in a "kitty" and the winner gets the distingushed honor of being named our "Top Cop".  He/She will then have their name engraved on a trophy with their time and and the agency they represent. This is a Special Trophy as it gets returned each year and the 2010 winner is engraved under the 2009 winner. The highlight of this is a special feature race against the the AKA winners of the day. It's not unusual to have the media there that day filming and taking interviews.

We Need Your Help - The picnic is put on by the membership by everyone signing up and offering to bring something. This includes things like Paper Products, Cups, Utensils, Soda, Fruit Juice, Meats, Pastas, Salads, Vegetable Platters, Desserts, Cookies, Chips, Watermelon and any other thing you'll find at a picnic. Sundays Events - This is another AKA points race. Like Saturday timed qualifying is done to determine starting position. The unique part is that the qualifying on Sunday is for the "2010 Lap Records". If you're the fast qualifier that day you earn the title of lap record holder for 2010. Your name along with a picture of you and your kart will be placed on the website.
